Diving Into Services – Slide Deck

The slide deck from my "Diving Into Services with WCF" presentation at Monday’s St. Louis .NET User Group meeting is posted to Slideshare. Thanks to everyone who was there and for sticking through to the end. There was a lot of material to cover and I was pretty tired after talking for an hour and a half.

Diving Into Services With Windows Communication Foundation

I’m presenting at tomorrow’s St Louis .NET User Group meeting and will focus on WCF.
"Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) is the framework for building distributed applications in .NET. WCF provides a foundation to build and expose services across a variety of communication methods. In this session we will cover the ABC’s of WCF and then dive into a real-world example WCF service that demonstrates how WCF can support services the way you need it to."

Saint Louis Dot Net Users Group – Monday, March 30th

Monday, March 30th I will be presenting during the second half of the .NET Users Group meeting and Microsoft’s office in Creve Coeur. Come out for both Stan Brooks presentation on "Users are Losers!" and mine on "The Software Architects Creed". This will be the first meeting where we are trying the new format as well as introducing the architecture track. I’m very excited to be a part of this and look forward to delivering my talk.

The first St Louis Day of Dot Net went off successfully! Over 240 attendees crammed into CAIT in Clayton to watch and discuss presentations on a variety of topics covered at PDC and other new technologies.
Thanks to everyone who came for the Oslo talk and especially the afternoon group. My energy was very low by then but the group stuck with it and had some great discussions. It’s definitely hard presenting about something so new that I have not deployed, so next time I hope to present on things I have deployed. I say next time because I think it’s pretty obvious there will be one.
Slides should be posted shortly to the DODN site.
Big thanks to Jeff, Kevin, and Scott for taking charge of this thing. They did an awesome job at getting this thing off the ground!
St Louis Day of .NET
Nov 10th
Registration for the St Louis Day of .NET started last week. The organizers have put together a great web site that has all the info you’ll need for the conference. Cost is $40 if you register before December 1st ($50 after that) and includes a conference polo shirt, 1g USB drive containing all conference presentations, projects, and other materials, full continental breakfast, and a boxed lunch.
I will be delivering the presentation "A Lap Around Oslo". Drop in for that session if you’re at the conference. Mention this blog and you’ll get a surprised look that you actually read it!
Speaking at the St Louis Day of .NET in December

The full conference details will be coming soon so you can look forward to a full day of .NET presentations and demos on December 13. I will be delivering the session "A Lap Around Oslo" covering Microsoft’s forthcoming "Oslo" product; a new modeling platform that will change how applications are developed. It will be my first speaking engagement since the Internet Librarian Conference in 2006 and I’m really looking forward to it. Many kudos to Clint for hooking me up with the opportunity.
As soon as the site is completed I’ll post up the link so you can get registered. There will be at least 19 sessions with plenty of content to suit any .NET developer!
